Harlequin Players

The House of Bernada Alba

For its third 1970 production, Harlequin Players moved from Russia to Spain for the emotionally intense The House of Bernarda Alba, by Federico Garcia Lorca. The set of simulated white stucco, the heavy mahogany furniture, and the somber black costumes all produced a classic Spanish atmosphere. The all-female cast was headed by Marla Elliott as Bernarda Alba, with her five daughters played by Kathy Ford, Debra Ryan, Shelly Chance, Becca Hayes, and Cathy Baldwin; Celia Cook and Adrienne Giller also starred.
