The First Grade Application Process

  • Applicant Guidelines

    All first grade applicants must be in kindergarten or primer in the fall of 2021 and be at least six years old by September 1, 2022.

    Please Note: All applications received after the due date will be accepted and considered on a space-availability basis.
  • Forms to Submit and Deadline

    Submit the following to St. Mark's by December 13, 2021:
    • Application form submitted online
    • Remarks from Parents
    • Application Fee of $50
  • Testing & Observation

    Applicant observation, ISAAD testing and CATS testing will be separate events. Observation dates will be available soon through the online application.  

    -The Independent Schools Admission Association of Dallas (ISAAD) has collaborated to offer virtual achievement testing for 1st grade candidates applying to member schools. Candidates need only register once and should only test one time. The cost of the test is $200. 

    Online ISAAD Test Registration Instructions: (Dates coming soon for January 2022 testing)
    1. Go to this registration link.
    2. Click on your preferred date and add to cart.
    3. You will be able to see test samples by clicking “View Test Sample” during registration.
    4. Click on the shopping cart at the upper right corner.
    5. Check out by making an account with an email & password.
    6. Enter your child’s first & last name, child’s birthdate and click the box giving permission for the testing session to be recorded for proctoring purposes.
    7. Enter your payment information. You will then see a screen that says Purchase Complete!

    CATS IQ Testing:

    -Collaborative Academic Testing Service (CATS) IQ testing is required for 1st grade applicants and should be conducted by Collaborative Academic Testing Service (CATS). Please visit CATS to register.

    Please contact Alicia Alvarez if you do not feel comfortable having your son appear in-person to complete the CATS testing. 
  • Records and Evaluation Forms

    School Records & Teacher Evaluation Form due to St. Mark's by January 14, 2022:
    • Submit the signed Records Release Form to the Registrar at your son's current school; records are due to St. Mark's on or before January 14. 
    • Request your son's Current Teacher Evaluation via the online form; the completed form is due to St. Mark's on or before January 14.

Second - Fourth Grade Application Process

    • Application Form submitted online
    • Remarks from Parents

  • Testing & Observation

    Information regarding ISEE Primary testing and observations for grade 2, 3 and 4 will be available soon. 

    CATS IQ Testing:

    -Fourth Grade Applicants: Collaborative Academic Testing Service (CATS) IQ testing is required for 4th grade applicants and should be conducted by Collaborative Academic Testing Service (CATS). Please visit CATS to register.

    Please contact Alicia Alvarez if you do not feel comfortable having your son appear in-person to complete the CATS testing. 

    -Second and Third Grade Applicants: You may submit additional information about your son that, while not required, will help us learn more about him, and provide additional perspective on his talents and interests. Please be aware that if you choose to include cognitive ability testing (for candidates to grades 2 & 3), that testing must be conducted by Collaborative Academic Testing Service (CATS). Please visit CATS to register for testing.
  • Records and Evaluation Forms

    School Records & Teacher Evaluation Form due to St. Mark's by December 13, 2021:

Fifth - Eleventh Grade Application Process

    Submit the following to St. Mark's by January 7, 2022:
    • Application Form submitted online
    • Remarks from Parents 
    • Student Questionnaire
    • Application Fee of $175
  • Records and Evaluation Forms

    School Records & Teacher Evaluation Form due to St. Mark's by January 14, 2022:
    • Submit the signed Records Release Form to the Registrar at your son's current school; records are due to St. Mark's on or before January 14.
    • Request your son's current Math and English Teacher evaluations via the online form; evaluations are due to St. Mark's on or before January 14. 
  • ISEE Testing

    • The Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) for grades 5-11 is available to take either at home or in person. Please note that it is the parent's responsibility to register their son to take the ISEE test at ERB: ISEE. When registering for the exam, please add St. Mark's School of Texas (school code 441805) as a recipient of his scores.
    • Applicants should sit for the ISEE no later than January 30, 2022.
  • Interview

    Information regarding interviews for Middle and Upper School applicants will be available soon for the 2022-2023 application season.
