The First Grade Application Process

  • Applicant Guidelines

    All first grade applicants must be in kindergarten or primer in the fall of 2019 and be at least six years old by September 1, 2020.

    *Dual Application Option: Within specific age ranges, boys who are currently in first grade may apply simultaneously to first and second grade. If you are interested in your son being considered for both grades, please contact the Office of Admission for additional information.

    Please Note: All applications received after the due date will be accepted and considered on a space-availability basis.
  • Forms to Submit and Deadline

    Submit the following to St. Mark's by December 16, 2019:
    • Application forms submitted online
    • Application Fee of $50
  • Register for Testing

    Register for C.A.T.S. Testing:
    • Register for C.A.T.S Testing at www.catstexas.com
    • Please direct scheduling questions to C.A.T.S.: 469-484-2994 or admin@catstexas.com
    • C.A.T.S. Testing requires a fee of $290 payable to C.A.T.S.
    • C.A.T.S. Testing should be completed no later than January 6, 2020.
  • Records and Evaluation Forms

    School Records & Teacher Evaluation Form due to St. Mark's by January 6, 2020:
    • Submit the signed Records Release Form to the Registrar at your son's current school.
    • Request your son's Current Teacher Evaluation via the online application 
  • On-Campus Testing: January 11 or January 25, 2020

    • Test spaces are limited. In order to ensure space availability, please submit your son's application as soon as possible. St. Mark's will confirm your test date by email.
    • Once your son's application has been received and processed, an online AABL registration invitation will be forwarded via email. Parents must register for the AABL online and pay the registration fee. 
    • Arrive no later than 7:45 a.m. the morning of testing; testing will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. and conclude around 11:30 a.m.

Second - Fourth Grade Application Process

    *Dual Application Option: Within certain age ranges, boys may apply simultaneously to the grade they are currently enrolled, as well as the next sequential grade. Although only one application is required, testing requirement may vary. For more information on a dual application option, please contact the Office of Admission.

    Please note: Applications received after the due date will be accepted and considered on a space availability basis.
  • Forms to Submit and Deadline

    Submit the following to St. Mark's by November 20, 2019:
    • Application forms submitted online
    • Application Fee of $50
  • Register for Testing

    For Fourth - Grade Applicants Only - Register for C.A.T.S. Testing:
    • Register for C.A.T.S Testing at www.catstexas.com
    • Please direct scheduling questions to C.A.T.S.: 469-484-2994 or admin@catstexas.com
    • C.A.T.S. Testing requires a fee of $290 payable to C.A.T.S.
    • C.A.T.S. Testing for Fourth Grade applicants should be completed no later than December 9, 2019.

  • On-Campus Testing: December 7 or December 14, 2019

    • Test spaces are limited. In order to ensure space availability, please submit your son's application as soon as possible. St. Mark's will confirm your test date by email.
    • Once your son's application has been received and processed, an online ISEE registration invitation will be forwarded via email. Parents must register for the ISEE online and pay the registration fee.

Fifth - Eleventh Grade Application Process

    Submit the following to St. Mark's by January 8, 2020:

    Application forms submitted online, including:
    • Applicant Essay
    • Applicant Personal Inventory and Self-Assessment
    • Applicant Activity Summary
    • Remarks from Parents 
    • School Visit Date or Interview Request
    • Application Fee of $175
  • Records and Evaluation Forms

    School Records & Teacher Evaluation Form due to St. Mark's by January 13, 2020:
    • Submit the signed Records Release Form to the Registrar at your son's current school.
    • Request your son's current Math and English Teacher evaluations via the online application.
  • ISEE Testing

    • All arrangements, including fees for the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) must be made by contacting the Educational Records Bureau at www.erblearn.org or 1-800-446-0320.
    • ISEE test dates and locations are determined by the Educational Records Bureau.
    • St. Mark's serves as a host for two dates, but applicants are not required to take the test on the St. Mark's campus.
    • St. Mark's ISEE Test Dates: October 26, 2019 and January 25, 2020.
    • Applicants should sit for the ISEE no later than February 1, 2020.
  • Small Group Discussions & Optional School Visit

    • Optional full-day visits can be arranged for applicants by indicating the student's preferred visit date in the Interview and Visitation section of the application. Small group discussions will be incorporated into the visit day.
    • For those who do not participate in a full day visit, St. Mark's will schedule small group discussions for all 5th through 11th grade applicants in December or January. This can also be requested through the online application.
    • Applicants who live out of state/country and are not available for a campus visit or small group discussion, please schedule alternative arrangements (Skype, Telephone, etc.) by contacting Alicia Alvarez Blaylock at aalvarez@smtexas.org.
