"It's not what you achieve, but who you are that matters most."
Since 1906, St. Mark's has strived to teach boys to become men who lead their communities with courage and honor. While the St. Mark's education is rooted in a rigorous and multifaceted academic experience, the heart of the St. Mark's experience is the idea that, as Eugene McDermott Headmaster David W. Dini often states, "it's not what you achieve, but who you are that matters most."

"St. Mark’s aims to prepare young men to assume leadership and responsibility in a competitive and changing world. To this end, the School professes and upholds certain values. These values include the discipline of postponing immediate gratification in the interest of earning eventual, hard-won satisfaction; the responsibility of defending one’s own ideas, of respecting the views of others, and of accepting the consequences for one’s own actions; and an appreciation for the lively connection between knowledge and responsibility and the obligation to serve."

Lower School

The Lower School is a vibrant and growing community for our youngest Marksmen to explore their curiosities and develop strong study habits. In grades one through four, the journey on the Path to Manhood begins in a safe and supportive environment where emphasis is placed on the whole boy. Students are guided by teachers who understand the wonder of boys and their development. While a strong academic curriculum is at the forefront of the Lower School, careful attention is given to social, emotional and cognitive development, and relationships are at the heart of our community.

Middle School

The Middle School years are among the most formative and important in any boy’s development. At St. Mark’s, Middle School is a time to learn how to learn. A priority is placed on both academic achievement and the skills of executive function and self-regulation. With greater independence comes greater responsibility. Middle School Marksmen take ownership of their learning through their thoughts, their words, and their actions.

Upper School

Upper School Marksmen are encouraged to actively participate in the multitude of opportunities offered on campus. As students navigate daily life, they engage with communities both on and off campus, leading to a sense of fulfillment on their path to manhood. Boys are celebrated in their successes, encouraged when they are faced with challenges, and pushed to explore the limits of their capabilities in all their endeavors.

*St. Mark's has an eight-day revolving class schedule.

Access & Affordability

St. Mark’s has a longstanding commitment to breaking down financial barriers for families and opening doors of possibilities for boys and young men who can thrive and contribute in the community.

By providing extensive financial aid resources as well as tuition financing options, St. Mark’s works closely with families to find manageable ways to afford their son’s education.

  • More than $4,000,000 in financial assistance is provided annually to families.
  • Financial aid covers approximately 90% of tuition and costs for families with an annual income of less than $140,000.
  • 49 financial aid grants of various amounts were awarded to families with an annual income of $225,000 or more.
