YoungArts Finalists

Three Marksmen have been recognized as Finalists in the 2019 YoungArts Competition: Kyle Smith ’19 (photography), Blake Rogers ’19 (design art), and Davis Yoo ’19 (design art). As Finalists, these Marksmen are invited to attend the annual YoungArts Week in Miami in January. There, they will join the other national Finalists to hone their art alongside distinguished master teachers and mentors. These three Marksmen are also one step closer to being named U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts. Additionally, three Marksmen were named YoungArts Merit Winners: Chase Honaker ’19 (photography), Charlie Hubbard ’19 (design art), and Adnan Khan ’19 (photography).

Of the thousands of students nationwide who applied for the 2019 YoungArts competition, only 163 were named Finalists. From those Finalists, the Commission on Presidential Scholars selects 20 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts, based on artistic achievement, personal characteristics, and leadership and service activities.

The National YoungArts Foundation was established in 1981 to identify and support the next generation of artists, and to contribute to the cultural vitality of the nation. YoungArts also serves as the exclusive nominating agency for the U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts, the country's highest honor for artistically talented high school seniors. Over the past decade, 17 Marksmen have been named YoungArts Finalists.
