Facilities
The Greenhill Track & Field facility is only 1 year old and is set up to host a Decathlon/Heptathlon with 2 venues for every event. It is a very fast, with wide curves. All the venues are right near the track for easy access. The high jump apron is a large “D” at the north end with multiple directions possible. The long jump, pole vault, sprints, and hurdles can go in either direction. The shot put and discus are brushed concrete. The javelin runway will be off the synthetic surface of the high jump area in a south direction.

Implements
We will be weighing in all implements on the first day. We will not be doing weigh-in for the pole vault.
*We have implements for both high school and College/Open, male, and female competitors. We also have some pole vault poles (mostly for HS) 165-180.

    John has been coaching for 43 years. As a collegiate coach, he produced 68 All-America’s, 9 NCAA Champions, 4 Collegiate Record Holders, 2 USATF National Champions, 7 Olympic Trials Qualifiers, and 1 Olympian. Now, at the High School and Private Level, he has enjoyed the same success.  Most recently,.  he coached 2 women to the 2016 Olympic Trials in the Heptathlon.  in 2015, he coached the Junior National Heptathlon Champion.  He is a USATF Level III, IAAF Level 5 Certified Coach in the Combined Events and is a Level I Instructor. He has a Master’s Degree in Physical Education (biomechanics and motor learning) and has authored a book on the javelin.  He has served on various USA Senior and Junior National Team Staffs since 2005.  He has been at St. Mark’s School of Texas for 30 years and is the founder of the JOHN GREEN/TEXAS GREATEST ATHLETE CE MEET.

    Richie has been coaching at St. John’s (Houston) for 39 years and has worked with local club and junior sprinters, hurdlers, jumpers, throwers, and vaulters during that time. A former decathlete at Univ. of Virginia, he is also a USATF Level III, IAAF Level 5 Certified Coach in the jumps and combined events and a frequent Level I Instructor in biomechanics, jumps and throws. He has served as an instructor for the Women’s Jr. Elite Horizontal Jumps Camp. He has also worked with several national class junior athletes in the horizontal jumps, pole vault, heptathlon, and coached the top high school decathlete and 2015 Pan Am Jr. Silver medalist.  He has served on US Junior and Senior international staffs as a coach and manager.

    With over 30 years of coaching at the collegiate and professional level, Coach Reid brings a wealth of experience to the track and on the field. As a Head Coach, he was won 14 collegiate National Championship teams, and has been awarded National Coach of the Year honors 15 times. In 2014, he was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame. At the professional level, he has been blessed to coach at 3 Olympic Games, and several World Championships. The high points of his Olympic experience are Olympic medals in the decathlon in 1992 (Dave Johnson-Bronze), 2004 (Bryan Clay-Silver) and 2008 (Bryan Clay-Gold). In addition to his coaching, he is active in leadership at every level. Serving on executive Track & Field committees at the NAIA, NCAA and USATF level. Currently he serves as the Chair of the USATF Coaches Advisory Committee and works with the USATF Combined Events Executive committee as well as the USATF High Performance Committee. He is a certified coach with both the USATF and the USTFCCCA and has also had the opportunity to serve on several USATF coaching staffs throughout his career, most recently at Oregon 2022 and Budapest 2023.
