Covid-19 protocols
All athletes attending this competition will have a PCR test done within 72 hours of the start of competition, 6/5/21.  It must be negative, and you must bring proof of test results.
 
Everyone will wear face-coverings all the times, this includes coaches/trainers and family members. Athletes will not be required to wear a mask when actually competing, but must wear one when done competing in the event.
 
Athletes & their coaches will arrive in different groups, according to their start time. There will be one group for the morning events and one group in the early afternoon events. They must stay in their own individual areas and leave after they are done each day.
 
Must maintain social distancing between competitors, coaches, officials and within your own camp/warm-up area at all times. 
 
Know that no concessions will be available (water/drink only).

Day 2 - 110 hurdles, Discus, Pole Vault, Javelin, 1500 Meters

Heptathlon:

Facilities
The newly resurfaced 8 lane 42” Tartan surface. The Long Jump(2), High Jump(2) and Pole Vault(2) are the same surface. The Shot Put 2) and Discus(2) are rough brushed concrete. Javelin runway is grass.  ¼” spikes are required for all running events and long jump & Pole Vault.  3/8” spike may be used in the high jump.  Longer spikes may be worn for the javelin.

Implements
We will be weighing in all implements on the first day. We will not be doing weigh-in for the pole vault.
*We have implements for both high school and College/Open, male and female competitors. 4K shot put – plenty, 12lb shot put – plenty, 16lb shot put – 3, 600gm javelin – plenty 40m-65m, 800gm javelin – 3. We also have some pole vault poles (mostly for HS) 165-180.

    John has been coaching for 41 years. As a collegiate coach, he produced 68 All-America’s, 9 NCAA Champions, 4 Collegiate Record Holders, 2 USATF National Champions, 7 Olympic Trials Qualifiers, and 1 Olympian. As a high school and private coach, he has enjoyed the same success. 31 high school All-America’s, 6 Jr. National Champions, and 13 Jr. National team members. Most recently, in 2015, he coached the Jr. National Heptathlon Champion. In 2016, he coached 2 women to the Olympic Trials in the Heptathlon. He is a USATF Level III, IAAF Level 5 Certified Coach in the Combined Events. He has a master’s degree in Physical Education and has authored a book on the javelin. He has served on various USA Senior and Junior National Team Staffs since 2005. He has been at St. Mark’s School of Texas for 28 years and is the founder of the TEXAS GREATEST ATHLETE CE MEET.

    Richie has been coaching at St. John’s (Houston) for 34 years and works with local club and junior sprinters, hurdlers, jumpers, throwers, and vaulters during that time. A former decathlete at Univ. of Virginia, he is also a USATF Level III, IAAF Level 5 Certified Coach in the jumps and combined events and a frequent Level I Instructor in biomechanics, jumps and throws. He has served as an instructor for the Women’s Jr. Elite Horizontal Jumps Camp. He has also worked with several national class junior athletes in the horizontal jumps, pole vault, heptathlon, and coached the top high school decathlete and 2015 Pan Am Jr. Silver medalist. He has served on US Junior and Senior international staffs as a coach and manager.

    With over 30 years of coaching at the collegiate and professional level, Coach Reid brings a wealth of experience to the track and on the field. As a Head Coach, he was won 14 collegiate National Championship teams, and has been awarded National Coach of the Year honors 15 times. In 2014, he was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame. At the professional level, he has been blessed to coach at 3 Olympic Games, and several World Championships. The high points of his Olympic experience are Olympic medals in the decathlon in 1992 ( Dave Johnson-Bronze), 2004 (Bryan Clay-Silver) and 2008 (Bryan Clay-Gold). In addition to his coaching, he is active in leadership at every level. Serving on executive Track & Field committees at the NAIA, NCAA and USATF level. Currently he serves as the Chair of the USATF Coaches Advisory Committee and works with the USATF Combined Events Executive committee as well as the USATF High Performance committee. He is a certified coach with both the USATF and the USTFCCCA and has also had the opportunity to serve on several USATF coaching staffs throughout his career.
