Lion Sports Update 09/24

Football
The varsity football team traveled to Houston to take on the defending SPC 4A champions, the Kinkaid Falcons. The Lions fell behind early when the Falcons ran the opening kickoff back for a TD. The Lions answered back with a 22-yard Colin Neuhoff to Ryan Warner TD pass to tie the game at 7. The Falcons then scored consecutive TDs to take a 20-7 lead. Neuhoff bulled his way into the end one to get the Lions back within a score (14-20), but that would be the last time Lions would score. In the end, the Lions fell to the Falcons by a score of 14-47. This Friday, the Lions will host the St. John’s Mavericks on St. Mark’s Homecoming at 7:00 p.m.

Volleyball
The varsity volleyball team had only one match last week, hosting Trinity Valley on Monday. The Lions split the first two sets with the Trojans before losing the match 1-3. This week the Lions travel to Greenhill on Tuesday for a non-SPC match and then host Ft. Worth Country Day in an important SPC counter game on Friday at 6 pm on Homecoming night.

Cross Country
The varsity cross country meet was canceled on Saturday due to the 8 inches of rain that McKinney had accumulated between Thursday evening and Friday night. The Lions are off this weekend for Homecoming and will resume their race schedule on Friday, October 5, at the Jesuit XC Classic at Norbuck Park at 8:00 a.m.
