Alumni Visit Old Parkland

On Thursday, February 2, 2017, more than 150 alumni and guests gathered at the Old Parkland Campus in Dallas for the latest installment of the Alumni Leadership Speaker Series featuring Harlan Crow, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Crow Holdings. Mr. Crow is the father of Jack ’14 and Rob ’17, and the husband of Kathy, a current Trustee. Mr. Crow presented a relatable account on the development of Old Parkland, highlighting the organic growth of the neighborhood and sharing some behind-the-scenes details of the many amenities the campus has to offer.

“That wonderful place on Preston road has been a major part of our lives,” Mr. Crow said. “We love the place and salute all the people who do so much to make it work so well.”

The discussion took place in the exquisite debate chamber, which features iconic Latin and Greek quotes engraved on the surrounding walls. With more than 427,000 square feet of building space, every detail was considered. Jeffersonian architecture and American Classicism inspire the character of the campus. After a brief Q&A session, alumni and guests were invited to walk through Old Parkland for guided tours throughout the historical landmark.

An Evening at Old Parkland was part of the Alumni Association's Alumni Leadership Speaker Series, which aims to provide Marksmen with lifelong learning opportunities, hearing from guest speakers in a variety of fields and interests.
