Marathon Weekend for Debate

There was no rest for the debate team this weekend. Max Wang ’19 and Harris Wilson ’18 finished a marathon of competition that lasted through 10:00 p.m. on Sunday night, September 19, in the octafinals of the Greenhill Fall Classic debate tournament. After the preliminary session, the duo was ranked 27th out of 112 teams. They started their elimination rounds with a victory over Wayzata (MN) on a 2-1 decision in the double octafinals, a round of 32. Unfortunately, that was followed by a 3-0 loss to Montgomery Bell Academy (TN) in the octafinals, a round of 16.

“This was an outstanding tournament for such a young team,” said debate coach Tim Mahoney. “Max and Harris participated in 16 hours of debates over two days with only small breaks in between rounds.”
