Debaters Win Back-to-Back Tournaments

Over the weekend of November 7, Aakash Pattabi '15 and Haris Ahmad '16 traveled to Southern California and won two debate tournaments back-to-back. They began competition at the University of Southern California Round Robin, where several of the nation's top teams competed over two days. After the preliminary competition, St. Mark's earned 12 of 14 ballots and debated Damien High School (CA) in the final round. St. Mark's won on a 2-1 decision for their first championship of the weekend. 
 
The following day, the debaters traveled to Notre Dame High School in Los Angeles for another tournament. After six rounds of preliminary competition, all teams with at least four preliminary round victories advanced into the single elimination round competition. With their 5-1 record, Haris and Aakash were seeded fifth. Five victories later, St. Mark's won their second consecutive tournament championship.
