25 Seniors named National Merit Semi-Finalists

Twenty-five members of the Class of 2024 have been named as National Merit Scholarship program semi-finalists based on each student’s PSAT/NMSQT scores the organization announced today. Only 16,000 of more than 1.5 million student entrants nationwide received semi-finalist status.

“Congratulations to our boys for another accomplishment during their time in Upper School,” said Veronica Pulido, Al G. Hill ’63 Director of College Counseling. “While we focus on the journey, we also recognize distinctions. Upholding the high academic rigor of our school, these students have set themselves apart by achieving a high score on a national exam. This accolade will add to the profile of a student for college admissions. We are elated and proud to highlight these individuals for their academic achievement and commitment.”

The following seniors from the Class of 2024 have been named as semi-finalists: Vardhan Agnihotri, Siddarth Bidare, Ethan Bosita, Ethan Gao, Zackary Goforth, Matthew Gomez, Arnav Lahoti, John Long, Ashrit Manduva, Nathan Meyer, Christian Neisler, Alexander Nelson, Alex Pan, Rishi Rai, Arav Rawat, Grayson Redmond, Liam Seaward, Aditya Shivaswamy, Sohum Sukhatankar, Reed Sussman, Justin Tong, Daniel Weinstein, Thomas Whitehurst, Nathan Wilson and Howard Zhang.

“I’m pleased to be in a group of so many of my classmates,” said Zack Goforth ’24. “The St. Mark’s curriculum has prepared me very well for standardized testing, and I’m hopeful this will be beneficial in the college process.”

These academically recognized Marksmen have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit scholarships that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a merit scholarship award, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of the competition. Over 90 percent of the semifinalists are expected to attain finalist standing, and more than half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
