Student Travel & International Study Programs
Student travel programs provide an opportunity for St. Mark’s students and faculty to broaden their global perspectives, build relationships, practice skills, and apply knowledge beyond the confines of the classroom or campus. Travel also promotes critical thinking, self-awareness, independence, confidence, curiosity, adaptability, cooperation, and ethical leadership. Most important, the school believes that travel has the unique ability to erode ethnocentric perceptions, reveal the common human condition, and strengthen universal similarities. These skills are crucial to cross-cultural collaboration and contribute to the development of empathetic global citizens while sharing and demonstrating the values of St. Mark’s School of Texas within an increasingly interconnected global community.
Upcoming Travel Opportunities
Upper School Trip to France (Normandy, Dunkirk, Bastogne, and Paris) – June 2019
Students will visit locations where the fate of Europe was decided during World War II. This adventure will give students the chance to explore, firsthand, values writ large on the tableau of European history: courage, selflessness, arrogance, folly, miraculous success and catastrophic failure. Two Upper School history teachers will accompany the boys, bringing the lessons taught in the classroom alive.
International Photography Expedition to Morocco – June 2019
St. Mark's Upper School photography students will have the chance to tour the North African Kingdom of Morocco. Led by the School's photography instructor, the boys explore the culture, villages, bazaars, and natural wonders of Morocco.
