Photography

Students begin their study of photography by working in black and white for the first year. They learn the basics of composition, contrast, and form, learn skills with Photoshop and Bridge, and participate in group critiques in order to learn how to make their photos better. In Upper School, the course progresses through the more technical aspects of photography and introduces color into their work. St. Mark's has been named the state's "Top Program" by the Association of Texas Photography Instructors fourteen times in the past fifteen years.

In 2019, a St. Mark’s senior was named a Presidential Scholar in the Arts (one of only 20 in the country) for his photography.
