On Friday, April 19 the St. Mark’s School of Texas Alumni Association is set to honor Bobbi Mailer, Alice Oltrogge, and John Stutsman at the 17th Annual Spring Alumni Dinner for their 160 years of collective service to the school.
English Department Chair Bobbi Mailer joined the faculty in 1973 and currently teaches English to ninth and tenth graders. She has held various positions on campus, including secretary for the Cum Laude Society, faculty sponsor of the St. Mark's Book Club, faculty adviser to the St. Mark's Literary Festival, and the Director of the St. Mark's School Visiting Scholars Programs. In 2008, Mrs. Mailer received The Ralph B. Rogers Alumni Award.
Alice Oltrogge began her career at St. Mark’s in 1965 to teach art in grades 1 through 8 and has taught lower school art exclusively since the late 1960’s. In 1989, Mrs. Oltrogge received the John H. Murrell Excellence in Teaching Award. In the spring of 2010, she was appointed to the Ackerman Family Master Teaching Chair in Lower School.
John Stutsman joined the St. Mark's faculty in 1973 as a member of the Mathematics Department and has since taught both mathematics and computer science. Mr. Stutsman now serves as Director of Computer Services and teaches BC Calculus. He has also coached water polo and swimming.
The impact that Mrs. Mailer, Mrs. Oltrogge, and Mr. Stutsman have made on the School cannot be measured, but it has been experienced by the many Marksmen they have taught. Under their watchful eye, young men have learned to dream big and think critically.
