Ceramicists Earn National Recognition

The National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) recently announced the results of its Annual K–12 Exhibition — one of the most competitive student ceramic showcases in the country. Out of more than 1,000 submissions nationwide, only 150 pieces were selected for inclusion, including works by four St. Mark’s ceramicists:

  • Tyson Diep ’27
    • Richard Notkin Award for Narrative Ceramic Art – Student
    • Richard Notkin Award for Narrative Ceramic Art – Teacher
    • Skutt Ceramic Products – Kids Need Clay Student Award
    • Skutt Ceramic Products – Kids Need Clay Teacher Award
  • James Dunlap ’27
    • Honorable Mention Award
  • Taiting Zhou ’27
    • Blick Art Materials Award
    • Speedball Art Products Wheel Award
    • Plinth Gallery Award for Ceramic Design

In addition, Tyson Diep received one of the most significant honors available to a young ceramic artist: a $100,000 scholarship to the nation’s top ceramics program at Alfred University, widely regarded as a premier destination for advanced study in the field.
