The First Grade Application Process

  • Applicant Guidelines

    *April 2017: We are still accepting applications for the 2017-2018 school year. Please contact Kerry Schneidewind at schneidewindk@smtexas.org or 214-346-8270 for additional information. 

    All first grade applicants must be in kindergarten or primer in the fall of 2016 and be at least six years old by September 1, 2017.

    *Dual Application Option: Within specific age ranges, boys who are currently in first grade may apply simultaneously to first and second grade. If you are interested in your son being considered for both grades, please contact the Office of Admission for additional information.

    Please Note: All applications received after the due date will be accepted and considered on a space-availability basis.
  • Forms to Submit and Deadline

    *We are still accepting applications for 1st grade on a testing space available basis. Please contact Kerry Schneidewind at schneidewindk@smtexas.org or 214.346.8270 with questions.

    Submit the following to St. Mark's by December 12, 2016:
    • Application Form
    • Remarks from Parents / Confidentiality Policy & Access Waiver
    • Testing Date Choice / Financial Aid Request 
    • Application Fee of $50
  • Register for Testing

    Register for C.A.T.S. Testing:
    • Register for C.A.T.S Testing at www.catstexas.com
    • Scheduling questions: 469-484-2994 or catsmail@sbcglobal.net
    • C.A.T.S. Testing requires a fee of $285 payable to C.A.T.S.
    • C.A.T.S. Testing should be completed no later than January 9, 2017.
  • Records and Evaluation Forms

    School Records & Teacher Evaluation Form due to St. Mark's by January 9, 2017:
    • Sign the Records Release Form and submit the completed form to your son's current school well before the due date.
    • Teacher Evaluation Forms can be submitted electronically through schoolrecs.com within the online application; Teacher Evaluation(s) must be received directly from the applicant's current school.
  • On-Campus Testing: January 7 or January 21, 2017

    • Test spaces are limited. In order to ensure space availability, please submit the application as soon as possible. St. Mark's will confirm your test date by mail/email.
    • Arrive by 7:45 a.m.; testing will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. and conclude no later than 12:00 p.m.

Second - Fourth Grade Application Process

    *Dual Application Option: Within certain age ranges, boys may apply simultaneously to the grade they are currently enrolled, as well as the next sequential grade. Although only one application is required, testing requirement may vary. For more information on a dual application option, please contact the Office of Admission.

    Please note: Applications received after the due date will be accepted and considered on a space availability basis.

    • Test spaces are limited. In order to ensure space availability, please submit the application as soon as possible. St. Mark's will confirm your test date by mail/email.
    • Once the testing registration information has been received and processed, an online ISEE registration invitation will be forwarded. Parents must register for the ISEE online and pay the registration fee.
    • Arrive by 7:45 a.m.; testing will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. and conclude no later than 12:00 p.m.

Fifth - Eleventh Grade Application Process

  • Records and Evaluation Forms

  • ISEE Testing

    • All arrangements, including fees for the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) must be made by contacting the Educational Records Bureau at www.erblearn.org or 1-800-446-0320.
    • ISEE test dates and locations are determined by the Educational Records Bureau.
    • St. Mark's serves as a host for two dates, but applicants are not required to take the test on campus.
    • St. Mark's ISEE Test Dates: November 5, 2016 or January 21, 2017.
    • The ISEE should be completed no later than January 29, 2017.
  • Small Group Discussions & Optional School Visit

    • Optional full-day visits can be arranged for applicants by indicating preferred visit dates on the Testing and School Visit section of the application. Small group discussions will be incorporated into the visit day.
    • For those who do not participate in a full day visit, St. Mark's will schedule small group discussions for all 5th through 11th grade applicants during the week of January 23, 2017.
    • Applicants who live out of state/country and are not available for a campus visit or small group discussion, please schedule alternative arrangements (Skype, Telephone, etc.) with Alicia Alvarez-Blaylock at aalvarez@smtexas.org.
