At the Upper School Final Assembly, the Alumni Association honored Nancy Marmion as the 2026 recipient of the Ralph B. Rogers Alumni Award. This award recognizes a member of the faculty for their outstanding contributions above and beyond their duties in the classroom.
“Nancy is one of the most highly respected teachers on this campus,” said Eugene McDermott Headmaster David W. Dini. “She’s touched the lives of thousands of Marksmen and shaped the careers of countless teachers, coaches, and advisors on our campus, modeling excellence, integrity, and unwavering dedication.”
Nancy Marmion joined the St. Mark’s faculty in 1985 and served for more than two decades as Chair of the Language Department. In addition to her work as a Spanish teacher, Nancy has remained heavily involved across campus and beyond: international trip sponsor, Pecos leader, admissions committees, discipline council chair, faculty senior master, Spanish club, international week, and so much more. In 2017, Nancy was announced as the inaugural holder of the
J.J. Connolly Master Teaching Chair.
During the nomination process for this year’s Rogers Award, one of Nancy’s colleagues notes, “She could easily fall back on her many years of carefully planned and expertly developed lessons, but Nancy never stops revising, rethinking, and retooling to make sure that her classes resonate with the boys for a lifetime of service going above and beyond.”
The three finalists for the Rogers Award – Nancy Marmion, Stewart Mayer, and Cindee McMahon – were announced at the
Spring Alumni Dinner in April.
The Ralph B. Rogers Alumni Award was established by the St. Mark’s Alumni Association in 1998 to honor faculty and staff for their pioneering contributions to the School community in academic, athletic, and extracurricular areas that go above and beyond the confines of their job descriptions, thus extending the boundaries of the learning experience for St. Mark’s students.
The Award was presented by Alumni Association President Lowell Ku ’89. Nancy's selection follows an extensive effort by the Ralph B. Rogers Alumni Award Committee, chaired by Mark Butler ’08, which solicited nominations from the community and hosted interviews with several dozen nominators.
