LACROSSE Held at Crum Lacrosse and Sports Field at SMU, the Lions varsity lacrosse team hosted powerhouse Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA) in a matchup that delivered. Mater Dei struck first, but the Lions responded quickly as JT Teinert found the net off a slick feed from Charlie Aisner, followed by a goal from Matthew Weir to give St. Mark’s an early edge. The first quarter ended tied 3–3, and the back-and-forth continued into halftime with Mater Dei holding a narrow 6–5 lead. The turning point came after the break, as Wyatt Hanson sparked the Lions with an early goal. The teams traded scores throughout the third, with Weir leveling the game at 7–7 heading into the fourth. From there, the Lions took control — locking down defensively and surging ahead behind standout performances from Mac Saye (hat trick), Michael Jimenez (2G, 2A), and Hanson (hat trick) to secure a 10–7 comeback victory. The Lions face Episcopal School of Dallas on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. before traveling to Houston for the SPC Tournament this weekend.

Jake DeBoever led the Lions with two hits, and Eli Thorne and Stone each added an RBI. The following day, the Lions bounced back with a 5–3 win over Oakridge in an important SPC game. After trailing early, St. Mark’s took the lead behind timely hits from Peter Rubi and Jackson Ostella, with Hudson Da Rosa’s RBI triple in the fifth proving decisive. Whit Turner earned the start, and Alex Calder closed with two scoreless innings in relief. Rubi and Ostella each recorded two hits, with Rubi driving in two runs.
