TRACK & FIELD
The St. Mark’s Track & Field team sent a small group of athletes to compete at the prestigious Texas Relays this past weekend, turning in a strong showing. While the 4x100 and 4x400 relays did not advance to the finals, both recorded their fastest times of the season. The 4x400 relay of Max Bean, Riggs Bean, Braden Scott, and Tripp Schoellkopf ran a 3:28.79 on Friday night — improving their season best by four seconds. On Saturday morning, under cooler, cloudy conditions, the 4x100 relay of Riggs, Tripp, Max, and Braden followed with a season-best time of 43.65. The team is off this week for the ISAS Festival and will travel to Houston next week to compete in the Nick Finnegan Meet, hosted by St. John’s at Awty International School.
GOLF
On Monday, March 30, the St. Mark’s golf team competed at Brookhaven Country Club in a tournament hosted by Hockaday. Ideal weather conditions led to strong scores across the board. St. Mark’s varsity baseball rallied for a 10–9 win over ESD in an SPC matchup after falling behind 5–0 early. Whit Turner earned the win in relief, allowing two unearned runs over four innings while striking out five. DeBoever added three hits, while Eli Thorne contributed two. The Lions drew seven walks as a team. LACROSSE
Saturday’s varsity lacrosse game against The Woodlands delivered a high-level, back-and-forth battle. After trailing early, the Lions responded behind goals from Charlie Aisner and Weston Chance to take a first-quarter lead. The game remained tight throughout, with strong defensive efforts from goalies Graham Smith and Luke Nguyen. Down four goals in the fourth quarter, the Lions mounted an impressive comeback, scoring four straight to tie the game at 10–10 and force overtime. Despite generating a quality opportunity, St. Mark’s fell just short, losing 11–10. The Lions will host Mater Dei (California) at Crum Field (SMU) on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
