BASKETBALL The varsity basketball team hosted a pair of games at the end of last week, turning in two strong performances. Against Dallas Thunder on Thursday, January 8, eight different Lions scored at least six points—seniors Pranav Danda, Spencer Hopkin, and Cooper Guiler; juniors Asher Collins, Dawson Battie, and AJ Thomas; sophomore Wes Jackson; and freshman Trevez McMiller—highlighting the team’s depth in a balanced victory. The following night, Hopkin and Thomas reached double figures, with Battie leading all scorers with 22 points. Senior Andy Li added a pair of three-pointers to put the finishing touches on a convincing win over a strong Kingdom Collegiate Academy squad. This week, the Lions host Cistercian on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. before traveling to Greenhill on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
WRESTLING The wrestling team used the past weekend to rest and recover. The Lions return to action on Friday, January 16, hosting the North Zone Duals in Spencer Gymnasium beginning at 4 p.m.
SOCCER The varsity soccer team spent the first week back from break training and preparing for SPC counter play. The Lions open league action at home against Cistercian on Tuesday, followed by a road match at Greenhill on Friday at 7 p.m.
SWIMMING The swim team has been hard at work in preparation for Thursday’s meet against perennial 6A powerhouse Southlake Carroll.
