The Alumni Service Medal is St. Mark’s highest volunteer service award. It is presented to an alumnus who has distinguished himself through sustained and outstanding service to the School.

David Ackerman ’89 has devoted more than 35 years to serving St. Mark’s with consistency, humility, and purpose. From his service on the Alumni Board from 1996 to 2002 to nearly two decades as a Trustee from 2008 to 2025, David has given the School his time, wisdom, and steadfast support. Among his many contributions, David helped lead the Alumni Association’s successful effort to achieve 50 percent participation in the St. Mark’s Fund, a milestone first reached during his tenure as annual fund chair and sustained for the past 17 years. In 2003, David became the inaugural recipient of the Young Alumni Service Citation, making him the first alumnus to receive both of the Alumni Association's volunteer awards.

  • Cindee McMahon

    Middle School Humanities Teacher

Cindee McMahon reminds us that some of the most impactful work at St. Mark’s happens quietly, one student at a time. She is a steady, trusted presence, known for excellence and deep commitment to each boy. Her belief in her students serves as a catalyst as they journey on their path to manhood. As one nominator said, “She does far more than teach curriculum; she changes the trajectory of a child’s confidence and future.” Throughout her more than three decades at St. Mark's, she has taught both Middle and Lower School Marksmen and was recognized with the Murrell Excellence in Teaching Award in 1993.
