Visual Arts Summer Trip to Tuscany (2026)

Upper School visual arts students and teachers spent a week immersed in artistic study across Tuscany, with each discipline pursuing its own creative focus. Ceramics students completed an intensive workshop at La Meridiana in Certaldo with artist James Ort, producing a series of expressive animal sculptures. Photography students documented the streets, architecture, and people of Siena, Montepulciano, and Montalcino, developing their skills in composition, visual storytelling, and portrait photography while experiencing local traditions, including preparations for Siena's famous Palio horse race. Drawing and painting students filled sketchbooks with observational studies, painted cityscapes from rooftop terraces, and captured the changing landscapes of Tuscany. The week concluded with the entire group reuniting in Siena to celebrate their accomplishments over dinner and gelato.
