After leading the St. Mark’s Lions to their first SPC Basketball Championship since 2007, junior Harrison Ingram ’21 was recently named to the 2019-2020 MaxPreps Junior All-American Second Team and the 2020 All-Area Boys Basketball First Team. Harrison was one of two players from Texas named to the MaxPreps Junior All-American Team and joins five other highly accomplished players from area schools on the SportsDay High School All-Area First Team. Harrison has been among the most highly recruited St. Mark’s student-athletes in recent decades.
“It means a lot to be selected to All-Area First Team,” said Harrison. “My teammates and coaches pushed me every day in practice to work my hardest. Every single day the team and I are figuring out ways to get better and thus improving the St. Mark's basketball program for years to come.”
Harrison has had an incredible career thus far at St. Mark’s. He was named to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Large Private School All-State team after a tremendous sophomore season and then played on a summer select team that won the prestigious Adidas Gauntlet. Harrison has received scholarship offers from some of the most storied collegiate programs in the country, including UCLA, the University of Kansas, the University of North Carolina, and Wake Forest University. Team USA invited Harrison to try out for their junior national team, and he was among the final wave of 24 players prior to the process being put on hold due to the current pandemic. In addition to once again earning TABC All-State honors this season, Harrison received All-SPC recognition after leading the Lions to the SPC Championship and was named MVP of the Dallas Mavericks Invitational Tournament.
“Harrison Ingram is one of the most versatile playmakers in high school basketball today,” said Varsity Basketball Coach Greg Guiler. “He is so much fun to watch because his love of the game propels him to fearlessly attack every possession and enjoy each moment with his teammates along the way. As soon as the team completed its undefeated SPC run in February, Harrison was immediately telling coaches and under-classmen ‘Now it’s time for back-to-back championships!’”
St. Mark’s Athletic Director Sean Lissemore also praised Harrison’s work ethic and attitude. “Harrison’s recognition of being named to the All-Area Boys Basketball First Team is well deserved and a testament to his rare athletic talents. He continues to make us all proud and certainly has a very bright future ahead of him.”
Harrison’s older brother, Will, is a member of St. Mark’s Class of ’17 and currently attends Middlebury College. Harrison’s parents, Tyrous and Vera, are dedicated members of the St. Mark’s community. Vera currently serves on the St. Mark’s Board of Trustees as a member of the Executive Committee and has previously served as Chair of the Audit Committee.
