Marksman Wins NCAA Title

On May 25, Ian Mize ’22 lifted the 2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse National Championship trophy alongside his Princeton Tigers teammates. Mize, a senior midfielder, helped the top-seeded Tigers complete an incredible postseason run that ended with a 16-9 victory over Notre Dame at the championship game in Charlottesville, Virginia.

"Growing up, I would watch the National Championship every Memorial Day with my family and dream of one day playing in that game and winning it," said Mize. "To have that dream come true in the final game of my career was incredibly special."

Mize graduated from Princeton the day after the National Championship and has started his career in finance, living and working in New York City. At St. Mark’s, Mize was a four-year starter on the varsity lacrosse team, served as team captain, and helped lead the team to the state championship final four in 2022.

"Beyond lacrosse, St. Mark’s taught me how to balance academics and athletics, manage my time, and push myself to be better in everything I did," Mize said. "The expectations that my teachers and coaches held me to prepared me well for Princeton and, ultimately, for life after school."

The Mize family, including Ian's father Roby, Jr. ’83 and brothers Roby III ’16 and Garrett ’18, has a long and meaningful legacy in athletics at St. Mark’s. The Roby Mize Training Room is named for Ian's grandfather, Dr. Roby Mize, an emeritus Trustee who also served as the consulting physician for generations of Marksmen athletes.
