New Administrators Fill Key Posts

The St. Mark’s community was super pleased to welcome our new chaplain, Father Kevin D. Huddleston, to campus as the 2003-2004 school year began. Fr. Huddleston earned his B.A. from Milligan College and his M.Div. from The Divinity School at Vanderbilt. Before coming to St. Mark’s, Kevin was the Rector at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Fredericksburg, Texas. He and his wife Gaye Lynn have three children, Nathan (age 23), Reade (age 12 and a St. Mark’s 6th grader), and Nadia (age 5). The Huddleston family also has a cat named Slate. Fr. Huddleston says early morning is his favorite time of the day and his favorite vacation spot is Creede, Colorado. Favorite movies include Monty Python’s “Holy Grail” and “House of Cards.” His teen age idol was Hank Aaron and his present heroes are his wife Gaye Lynn and Polycarp. Guests at his Fantasy Dinner Party would be Frederick Buechner, Thomas Aquinas, Ambrose of Milam, Ireneaus, Ludwig Wittgenstein and Barbara Brown Taylor. Fr. Huddleston says he is happiest when he is in Colorado reading with his family.

Mrs. Suzanne Townsend joined the Administrative Team last May, too late for us to introduce her to the community at large. She is the Director of Finance and Administration at St. Mark’s. Prior to joining the administration here, Mrs. Townsend was the V.P. of Finance and Administration at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. Suzanne has a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Texas at Tyler, and an M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University. She is married to David Townsend and they have a daughter Lesley (age 21), and a houseful of pets – two poodles (Murf the Smurf & T-Rex) and two cats (Sam & Harry). Early evening is Suzanne’s favorite time of the day, and she lists her heroes as Eleanor Roosevelt and ordinary people who persevere in extraordinary circumstances. Her favorite vacation spots are New York and New Orleans. Suzanne loves movies, so her favorite ones start with “When Harry Met Sally,” “Forest Gump,” “Big,” “Giant,” “Shrek,” and the list just goes on and on. Her teenage idol was John Lennon. Guests at her Fantasy Dinner Party would be Molly Ivins, Liz Carpenter, John Steinbeck, Will Rogers, Oprah Winfrey, and Bill Cosby. Tex Mex is her favorite junk food, and she says she is happiest when life seems balanced.
