National Merit Recognizes 55 Seniors

Twenty-one Marksmen from the Class of 2027 have been recognized as Semifinalists in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program. This distinction places these young men among the top 1% of high school students nationwide. Out of more than 1.3 million entrants across 19,000 U.S. high schools, only 16,000 students advanced to Semifinalist standing based on their performance on the PSAT/NMSQT from the prior school year. An additional 34 seniors were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program as Commended Scholars, placing them among the top 50,000 seniors in the nation. This marks the 16th year that more than 50% of the senior class has earned National Merit recognition.

 

Congratulations to the following St. Mark’s seniors who have been named Semifinalists: Guru Aroul, Wyatt Auer, Shiv Bhandari, Michael Chang, Tyson Diep, James Dunlap, Julian Gerstle, Zach Golle, James Hoak, Christopher Huang, Nicholas Huang, Leo Hughes, Rishik Kapoor, Max Lee, Wyatt Melvin, Kiran Parikh, Jack Shepro, Rahul Subramaniam, Nathan Tan, and Mihir Tare. Tony Lu, also included in this number, matriculated to college a year early.

The Semifinalists now move on to the next stage of the competition. Finalists and scholarship winners will be announced in the spring.
