Track Team Sprints to Victory

The Varsity Track & Field team hosted a 6-team meet with Greenhill, ESD, Ursuline, Parish Episcopal, Hockaday, and St. Stephens. Under warm conditions, the Lions enjoyed a successful weekend with many PR’s (personal records) and/or seasonal bests. The Lions won the meet with 257 points. Some highlights included Kendrick Spraglin ’13 in the hurdles and long/triple jumps where he recorded two 1st and two 2nd place finishes, as well as running on both relay teams. Harrison Hewitt ’13 also had a busy day, winning the Pole Vault, finishing in 2nd place in two hurdles races, and also ran on both relays. Matthew Brown ’14 won the steeplechase with a new PR and won the 1600 meters as well. Harrison Perkins ’14 won the 800 meter race with a new PR and anchored the winning 1600 meter relay team. This week the team will travel to the prestigious Jesuit-Sheaner relays, hosted by Jesuit College Preparatory School. It is one the oldest track & field meets in Texas with many outstanding teams from around the state and other states competing.

The Varsity Tennis team played two matches last week. They defeated Parish Episcopal 6-3 and then lost to Greenhill 2-3 in a counter match. They play their next counter match this Friday at All Saints.

The Varsity Baseball team dropped a contest with the Home School Athletic Association last week, but bounced back to defeat Greenhill on the road this past Tuesday in a critical counter game. The team takes to the road for another counter against All Saints on Friday.

The Varsity Lacrosse team had a big game here on Friday night against ESD. The Lions and Eagles were tied 4-4 at the half, but ESD jumped out to a small lead early in the 3rd quarter and were able to hold on for a 9-7 victory.
