Class of ’97 Breaks Record

The Class of 1997 celebrated their Reunion in historic fashion. They rallied together to break the 20th Reunion giving record, raising more than $132,000 by Alumni Weekend in April 2017.

This incredible feat started with a simple goal: to plan the best Class of 1997 Reunion possible. Two of the Reunion Committee Co-Chairs, Brad Hirsh and Veeral Rathod, sent a memo out to the whole class looking for Reunion Committee volunteers. Twelve classmates emerged as leaders: Brian Bacharach, David Cohen, Ryan Fellman, Brad Hirsch, Randal Johnson, Christian Kelso, Berndt Mader, Veeral Rathod, Chess Stetson, Jeremy Stewart, Allen White, and Andrew Wootton. At their first meeting in October 2016, they discussed committee purpose, class involvement, and Alumni Weekend. As conversations continued to evolve, the Committee decided to try to break the 20th Reunion giving records for dollars raised and participation.

Their Class has a tradition of support, which includes breaking the 15th Reunion record five years ago. This year’s amazing gift, and their return to campus for their reunion demonstrated how important St. Mark’s is to each of these Marksmen.

“These are the kinds of relationships that will stand the test of time and continue to be a priority in our lives,” said Reunion Committee Co-chair Brad Hirsch.

On the evening of Saturday, April 22, more than 25 members of the Class gathered at the home of Kim & Ryan Fellman to catch up and reminisce about their days at 10600 Preston Road. Former and current faculty members Tom Adams, Warren Foxworth ’66, Frank Jordan, Jacque Gavin, Mia Pavelle, and Jay Sylvester stopped by to visit with their former students and hear about where life has taken them.
