Marksmen Artists On Display
Andrew Chuka ’17 received second place for sculpture in the 2017 Young American Talent (YAT) competition. In total, three St. Mark’s students, including Andrew, Perry Naseck ’18, and Adam Subel ’17, collectively had five pieces juried in to this year’s competition, which attracted a record 799 submissions.
Andrew won for his Chapel Chair project titled “Ascension: Letting Go.” All five works of art, in addition to other selected finalists, are on exhibit through April 27, at Dallas City Hall for the YAT Encore Exhibit.

The Young American Talent competition is organized by the Visual Arts Guild of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts & H. Paxton Moore Fine Art Gallery at El Centro College. The competition is open to all North Texas high school students and offers them an outstanding opportunity to compete with their peers and to showcase their artwork in a professional gallery setting.
