Community Celebrates the Journey

On Saturday, February 18, 2017, more than 600 parents, faculty, staff, and guests gathered on campus to Celebrate the Journey during this year’s Celebrate St. Mark’s. Guests began their journey in the W. W. Browning, Jr., Great Hall with Monte Carlo-inspired casino games and a community art exhibit featuring works by students, faculty, and parents. The night continued in Spencer Gym, which was transformed into Bollywood for dinner and the live auction. Once-in-a-lifetime experiences, from luxury New York City vacations to Headmaster for the Day, were available thanks to the generosity of the St. Mark’s community and friends. The celebration returned to the Great Hall, where the crowd danced the night away in Tokyo to the sounds of Infinite Journey.

Saturday’s event was the result of thousands of hours invested by volunteers and supporters over the past year. Each year, Celebrate St. Mark’s provides a chance for parents and community members to come together for a night of fun, all in support of their Marksmen. In their welcoming remarks, Co-Chairs Abby Williams and Aparna Crosnoe thanked the tireless volunteers who devoted their time and talents to create an unforgettable journey, “From coordinating Connections events and gathering one-of-a-kind Live Auction items, to curating the Journey Art Exhibit, this evening would not have come together without your enthusiasm and dedication. Thank you so very much!”

In addition to providing the community with an evening to celebrate, proceeds from Celebrate St. Mark’s will benefit the construction of a new Lower School playground in conjunction with the building of the new Science Center.
