ReMarker Named National Winner

The ReMarker student newspaper has been named a national Crown winner by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, the highest award given by the organization. Crown finalists will be designated as either Gold Crown or Silver Crown winners at CSPA's annual convention in New York in March. Representatives from St. Mark's will be on hand to accept the award.

The ReMarker newspaper extended its Crown streak to 14 consecutive years — the longest successive streak by a secondary school in the 92-year history of the organization. The newspaper has also won 13 consecutive Gold Crowns, another record for consecutive Gold Crown winnings. Publications were judged on writing and reporting, coverage, design, and photography by a panel of scholastic and media professionals.

The editor of the 2016 ReMarker was Philip Smart '16, now a student at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Founded in 1925, CSPA is the nation’s oldest organization for scholastic journalists and is headquartered at Columbia University.
