Security Team Welcomes Veteran Officers

This summer, St. Mark’s welcomed three new members to the security team. As the new school year begins, these new security team members will be seen greeting the students when they arrive, assisting in morning and afternoon carpool, directing visitors, and keeping a watchful eye over the campus as a whole.

The School was fortunate to hire three recently retired Dallas Police Department officers and bring their professionalism and experience to our security team. First, Martin Hoffer has been associated with the School for 15 years as one of the DPD officers on campus and at special events. He recently retired after 31 years in the department, where he worked in numerous divisions. Fred Katani retired in 2014, after 33 years in the department, the last 20 as a Sargent in the Motorcycle Unit. Kent Witt retired in 2011, after spending 25 years with DPD. He spent his earlier years in the Special Operations Swat Unit and his last 20 years in Patrol. All three have worked numerous dignitary protection assignments and collectively bring 89 years of law enforcement experience to our already experienced and professional staff of Julious Connor, Daniel Mauch, Don Humphrey, and Jonathan Tilley.

Along with this fine in-house staff, the School continues to have the support of 11 returning DPD officers on campus during the week and for special events: Sgt. Bodie Sartin (Coordinator), Sr. Cpl. Chris Allen, Sr. Cpl. Brandon Berrie, Sr. Cpl. Ken Budjenska, P.O. Jason Groom, Sr. Cpl. Antonio Macharro, P.O. Beverly Ma, Sr. Cpl. Gus Rodriguez, Sr. Cpl. Mark Michaels, Sr. Cpl. Rick Valentine and Lt. Mark Villarreal.
