Mr. Gendason Receives Ralph B. Rogers Award

On Friday, May 20, 2016, at Upper School Final Assembly, Casey Gendason, Associate Director of College Counseling, was awarded the Ralph B. Rogers Alumni Award. The award honors the legacy of Ralph B. Rogers, the Rogers family, and the St. Mark’s faculty and is given to a faculty or staff member for their contributions above and beyond their responsibilities.

Mr. Gendason has been a member of the St. Mark's faculty since 2004. During the award selection process, he was affectionately referred to by one of his colleagues as the “Concierge” because of his willingness to always help students and faculty alike. Available 24/7, “he magically expands time by going into overdrive and finds a new gear to address any crisis.” In addition to his role helping boys navigate the college selection process, Mr. Gendason also serves as the Faculty Sponsor for Student Council and Class Sponsor and advisor in the ninth and tenth grade cycle. He’s been a coach and a classroom teacher, earning praise from students and colleagues alike.

One parent recently described him by saying, “He truly cares about his students, and does everything possible to help them find the right fit for college, one where they leave St. Mark’s filled with pride for their accomplishments and holding their heads high. He is unconditionally engaged, utterly diplomatic, perfectly professional, and filled with sage wisdom.”

The Ralph B. Rogers Alumni Award was established by the St. Mark’s Alumni Association in 1998 to honor faculty and staff for their pioneering contributions to the school community in academic, athletic and extracurricular areas that go above and beyond the confines of their job descriptions, thus extending the boundaries of the learning experience for St. Mark’s students.
