Publications Win Gold Crowns

The Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s (CSPA) honored St. Mark’s three major Upper School publications with its highest awards. At the CSPA’s annual convention at Columbia University, The ReMarker student newspaper and The Marque literary magazine were awarded Gold Crowns, the organization’s highest honor. This was The ReMarker’s thirteenth consecutive Gold Crown, extending the newspaper’s longest successive winning streak by a secondary school in the CSPA's 91-year history. This year also marks the fourth consecutive Gold Crown for The Marque. The Marksmen yearbook received a Silver Crown, marking its eighth consecutive year to earn a Crown award. 
 
Matthew Conley ’15 was the editor of The ReMarker and Carrington Kyle ’15 was the editor of the Marksmen. Both publications are sponsored by Ray Westbrook, Gene & Alice Oltrogge Master Teaching Chair. The Marque was edited by Purujit Chatterjee ’15 and Alex Kim ’15 and was sponsored by Lynne Weber, Trustee Master Teaching Chair in Humanities. 
 
Founded in 1925, CSPA is the nation’s oldest organization for scholastic journalists and is headquartered at Columbia University. Lynne and Ray joined their students at the CSPA’s annual convention March 16–19, 2016, in New York.
