Fourth Graders Stand Second in National WordMasters Challenge

St. Mark’s fourth graders achieved Highest Honors in the recent WordMasters Challenge™—a national vocabulary competition involving nearly 150,000 students annually. The fourth-grade team scored an impressive 193 points out of a possible 200 in the first of three meets this year, placing second in the nation.
 
Competing in the difficult Blue Division, Sal Abbasi, Arjun Agarwal, Maxwell Chuang and James Singhal each earned a perfect score of 20, an achievement only accomplished by 50 students at the national level. Other St. Mark’s students who achieved outstanding results include: Nicolas Gomez ’22, Rahul Gunukula ’22, Maddox Mank ’22, Ian Mize ’22, and Paul Valois ’22. The team was coached by Lower School teachers Sherri Darver and Janet Wadkins.
 
The second WordMasters test will be administered February 19, 2014.
