Young Alumni Gather for College Send Off

Recent graduates from the Class of 2013 gathered on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, for the annual Senior Send-Off Party hosted by Eugene McDermott Headmaster Arnie Holtberg.

A record sixty members of the Class turned out for the final gathering before departing for college. The Marksmen were greeted by former teachers and members of the Alumni Office.

As the former seniors enjoyed a hearty dinner of burgers and chips, Director of Alumni Relations Jim Bob Womack ’98 noted that the event would be the last time the Class of 2013 will be together in an official School-hosted event until their 5th-year Reunion in 2018. Mr. Holtberg expressed his views of what it means to be a Marksman after graduation, including the need to stay connected and be ever ready to help each other. Holtberg also stressed that the Class’s relationship to the School will grow in the coming decades even if they are not on campus.

Members of the Class stayed long after the event had ended to share memories and play an impromptu game of Ultimate Frisbee on the Cecil and Ida Green Commencement Theater. Although many of them may not see each other for years to come, the St. Mark’s Alumni Association will always be a great way to connect with current and future alumni.

Best wishes to the Class of 2013 in college and in all of their future endeavors!
