Students Serve Up Austin Street Dinner

On the night of Thursday, December 6, members of the Class of 2014 lined up at the Austin Street Centre to hand out hot meals to the shelter's residents. The "Austin Street Dinner" was the culmination of last month's McDonald's Week fundraiser, where students from St. Mark's and Hockaday joined together with the community to raise more than $18,000 for the shelter.

While the Blues Club rocked the house, students passed out burgers, apple pies, and hot chocolate. Community Service leaders Matt Mahowald ’14 and Harrison Perkins ’14 then presented Austin Street Executive Director Keith Price with a check for $18,151.29.

“We are constantly blown away by the compassion that St. Mark’s School of Texas shows Austin Street and our clients,” Keith Price said. “With so much talk about apathy among today’s youth, it’s refreshing to see young men such as Matt, Harrison and their team make such a positive impact to this ministry."
