St. Mark's Fund Concludes Record Year

In situations like these, a simple “thank you” seems woefully inadequate. But, please know that this “thank you” is heartfelt and sincere — because your incredible generosity and support have enabled the School to conclude a record-breaking year of giving.

In fact, a historic high watermark was reached as the St. Mark’s Fund concluded its year on June 30, 2022. Alumni, parents and friends generously gave more than $5.3 million in unrestricted gifts, marking the sixth time the Fund has exceeded $4 million and the first-time contributions have surpassed $5 million.

This success was made possible by more than 3,000 donors — including an astonishing 54 percent participation of alumni and 84 percent participation by parents — marks just about any independent school in the nation would be proud to achieve.

“There is no other community like the St. Mark’s family,” said Scott Jolly, assistant headmaster for External Affairs. “The widespread support of the St. Mark’s Fund highlights our community’s deep commitment to current and future Marksmen.”

Participation in the Fund is an important measure of the overall strength of the School community. This outpouring of support affirms the highest degree of belief in and gratitude for the St. Mark’s experience. Traditionally, the St. Mark’s Fund has provided more than 10 percent of the School’s operating budget.

And, for the first time in school history, alumni raised more than $2.9 million in the St. Mark’s Fund, with 12 reunion classes giving $853,000.

“More than 50 percent of all St. Mark’s alums give back to the school each year,” said Dr. Lowell Ku ’89, Alumni Board member and father of Collin ’27. “This is a profound statement to how firmly the alumni believe in the school, its mission and the importance of supporting the St. Mark’s education for the current boys and the next generations to come.”

So, again, a simple — but profoundly sincere — “thank you” to the donors and volunteers who give so abundantly to make St. Mark’s so much more than just a school, but a place we call home — where challenging academic programs, enriching extra-curricular activities and world-class facilities all blend together to propel boys on the path to manhood, men of true character and integrity.
