Lions Sports Update (09/21)

Volleyball
The varsity volleyball team faced two strong opponents last week in the Excel Volleyball Club and Trinity Valley School. On Tuesday, Excel, a team made up of players from around the metroplex, put up a tough fight. St. Mark’s lost the first game but came from behind in both the third and fourth games to pull off the 3-1 victory. On Friday, the Lions hosted Trinity Valley. With the football team off that week, the fans came to the game in full force and ignited the Lions, lifting them to a 2-0 lead. The Trojans responded with a tough Game 3 win to stay in the match, but the Lions regrouped and finished with a dominant 25-13 win in Game 4 to seal the 3-1 victory. This week, the Lions travel to Trinity Valley on Thursday in the second game of a “home & home” and then host Casady on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in the team’s first SPC counter game.

Football & Cross Country
The varsity football and varsity cross country teams were off this past week. The football team will be back on the gridiron this Friday, September 24, at 7:30 p.m. against Founders Classical Academy of Lewisville. The cross country team is ramping up their training in preparation for two of their toughest races of the year on October 2 (Chili Pepper Festival at the University of Arkansas) and October 9 (Maverick Ramble in Tomball, TX).
