Senior Named McDonald’s All American

Earlier this week, Harrison Ingram ’21 was named a 2021 McDonald’s All American, often considered the most prestigious individual honor for high school basketball. Harrison joins an elite company of distinguished recipients, including legendary players Michael Jordan, Lebron James, and many other basketball icons.

“This prestigious acknowledgment is a fitting culmination for all the hours Harrison has so faithfully devoted to honing his craft,” said Greg Guiler, Head Basketball Coach. “On the court, his instincts and play-making ability are absolutely jaw-dropping.  And yet, he is always looking to turn the spotlight toward others. He wants the team to succeed.”

Harrison was selected to be a McDonald’s All American by a committee of experts as one of the top 24 boys basketball players in the country from more than 700 nominated players. While the signature 2021 game will not be played due to COVID-19, the accomplishment will be recognized in a virtual celebration.

“This is like a dream come true,” said Harrison. “All the early morning workouts and practices with my teammates and coaches helped form who I am today. Coach Guiler and others who have coached me gave me the freedom to be myself on and off the court.”

Being named a McDonald’s All American follows a number of local and national accolades for Harrison throughout his career at St. Mark’s. A four-year varsity starter, Ingram led the Lions in 2020 to their first SPC Basketball Championship in more than a decade. The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches named Harrison their private school Player of the Year, while The Dallas Morning News named him 1st-Team All-Metroplex. Harrison finishes his career with 1,507 points, 908 rebounds, and 500 assists.

Despite the challenges Harrison and his teammates overcame following the loss of Hicks Gym and throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Harrison will leave St. Mark’s as one of the School’s most decorated athletes, leaving an incredible impact on Lions basketball for years to come. As one of the nation’s top prospects, Harrison is a five-star recruit and will attend Stanford University next season and be an integral part of their men’s basketball program moving forward.
