FOOTBALL
Last Friday, the varsity football team hosted Legacy Christian Academy for the first time. The 2-1 Eagles presented a formidable opponent, but the Lions gave a strong effort throughout and finished with a 27-14 victory. The offense, defense and special teams combined to play complimentary football throughout the game. Hudson Bloom, John Charest and Silas Hosler came up with defensive takeaways, while defensive newcomers Noah Williams and Blake Malouf helped aid a solid defensive performance. Offensively, Asher Wilburn and Keats Leffel combined for 172 yards rushing, while Wilburn connected with Lucas Blumenthal for two passing touchdowns of 13 and 68 yards apiece. The 2-2 Lions will host another 2-2 team in TAPPS opponent Coram Deo this Friday night at 7 p.m.

VOLLEYBALL
The varsity volleyball team hosted 2 games last week. On Tuesday, the Lions hosted a club team from Denton called the Red River Rattlers. With contributions from every single player on the roster, St. Mark’s earned a 3-0 victory. On Thursday, the Lions looked to avenge their 2-3 loss in the first match of the season against Trinity Valley. Playing efficiently and relatively error free, the Lions jumped out to a 2-0 lead. The Trojans would not go down without a fight and they won game 3, but the Lions would regroup and finish strong to win game 4 and the match 3-1.  This week, the Lions travel to Ft. Worth Country Day on Tuesday and then host Greenhill on Wednesday.

WATER POLO
This weekend, the varsity water polo team took on local rival Jesuit. The Lions went up 4-3 in the 1st quarter with scores coming from senior Aadi Khasgiwala, juniors Ethan Gao and Adrian Lutgen with 1 goal each, and sophomore Ben Chen who has now scored at least 1 goal a game on the season.
