Lessons & Carols

The St. Mark’s Choir will celebrate the holiday season with the 67th annual Festival of Lessons & Carols. First observed on December 24, 1918, in King’s College Chapel, the service includes organ preludes played on the Roosevelt Family Pipe Organ. The nine lessons, which are the same every year and read by members of the St. Mark’s community, are followed by anthems and carols sung by the choir, and by hymns sung by the congregation. The service always begins with the hymn “Once in Royal David’s City,” with the first verse being sung unaccompanied by a solo boy chorister.

Doors to the chapel will open at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday the 18th, the organ prelude will begin at 6:30 p.m., and the service will begin at 7:00 p.m.
