Lukas Rahlson, Middle School Science Teacher
Lukas Rahlson joined the St. Mark’s faculty in 2012 to teach middle school earth science. In addition to his role as a teacher, he sponsors the 7th grade class, coaches football and lacrosse, and is the Co-Director of the Wilderness Program. In 2016, he received the Murrell Excellence-in-Teaching Award. Prior to moving to Dallas, Lukas lived in Vermont where he studied Geology and worked as a volunteer ski patroller. While maintaining his responsibilities at St. Mark’s, Lukas earned his Masters of Education from Vanderbilt University. Lukas’ dedication to his graduate degree work and St. Mark’s was evident during last summer’s Pecos Wilderness Trip where he completed his final thesis assignment from his tent. Lukas holds a B.A. from Middlebury College and in his free time enjoys hiking, biking, skiing, and fly fishing.

Ray Westbrook, Gene & Alice Oltrogge Master Teaching Chair
Ray Westbrook joined the St. Mark's faculty in 2001. He serves as adviser to The ReMarker newspaper and Marksmen yearbook and teaches courses in beginning and advanced journalism and graphic design and editing. He has received the John H. Murrell Excellence in Teaching Award, been named a Distinguished Adviser by the Dow Jones News Fund and served a four-year term as president of the Columbia Scholastic Press Advisers Association. In 2010, the Interscholastic League named him Texas High School Journalism Teacher of the Year. Prior to coming to St. Mark's, he was a senior sales associate in the publishing industry, taught in both the San Marcos, Tx., and Klein school districts and has held administrative positions with the Texas Association of Student Councils and the University Interscholastic League. He holds a communications degree from Texas State University (formerly Southwest Texas State University).
