Finance Club

St. Mark’s Finance is an intra-school Finance organization with nearly 120 members dedicated to encouraging the study of business and finance in the Upper School. The organization is split into four distinct subgroups and avenues for learning:

  1. Stock Market/Investment Simulation: Club members form teams of four and compete in a rigorous, real-world simulation of the stock market to achieve the highest earning in a certain period of time. Club meetings and lectures promote comprehensive understandings about the stock market’s functionality, beneficial investment strategies, and company valuation techniques.
  2. Personal Finance: Meetings cover important topics about personal finance matters such as retirement savings, tax cuts, banking regulations, credit cards, and preparing for job interviews. Topics will be taught through lecture format with engaging discussions.
  3. Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA): St. Mark’s Finance hosts a local chapter of FBLA, where students can participate in state and national competitions over a variety of topics such as Business Ethics, Finance, Accounting, etc. The competition is a robust test of proper comprehension of the theoretical nature of economics as well as the real-world applicability of finance. Competition participation may be both individual or group-based.
  4. Guest Speakers: St. Mark’s Finance hosts guest speakers at club meetings. These speakers help provide further insight into specific practices, clarify job expectations, and detail day-to-day interactions. If you are interested in being a guest speaker, please see the resources section to the right.
