Marksmen Earn Top Scouting Rank

On Sunday, September 22, 2019, four Marksmen achieved the highest honor in Scouting. Families from Boy Scouts of America Troop 730 gathered in the St. Mark’s Chapel for the Eagle Court of Honor. At the ceremony, the Eagle Scout medal was awarded to Marksmen Mason Antes ’20, Sam Morgan ’21, Pranay Sinkre ’22, and Ekansh Tambe ’22, as well as Finnley Collins and Jake Darlak. Nationwide, only four percent of Scouts achieve this honor.

“Eagle Scout is much more than a title, a badge, or a rank,” said Mason Antes. “To me, Eagle Scout is a collection of more than nine years of memories and achievements that transformed me into the man I am today. I have made many lifelong friends through scouting, and I hope that as I continue through life, I will have the opportunity to utilize every skill and leadership ability that I have learned.”

Reflecting on this achievement, Pranay Sinkre looked to the future: “For me, being an Eagle Scout is not the end, but another steppingstone in Scouting. It is a position that allows me to help, guide, and mentor younger scouts to become Eagle Scouts.”

After an invocation by Eugene McDermott Headmaster David W. Dini, the Scouts heard from special guest speaker Thomas Leverton, CEO of Chuck E. Cheese Entertainment Inc., who praised the Scouts for the skills and virtues they have cultivated along their journey.

To achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, each boy was required to earn at least 21 merit badges and plan, develop, and lead a service project for the benefit of the community. For their service projects:

  • Ekansh toured the borders of Isreal with Syria, Jordan, Gaza, Egypt, West Bank, and Lebanon, and presented his collected photographs and stories to the community at the National Border Patrol Museum, the National Youth Leadership Council Annual Conference, TEDx Plano, and at events and locations across the country.
  • Pranay renovated and organized a storage area at the Agape Clinic in South Dallas, building shelves, reorganizing supplies, and cataloging medicines and medical devices.
  • Mason refurbished the sports recreation room at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Dallas, Cedar Springs, creating new shelving and cleaning, organizing, and labeling equipment, uniforms, clothing, and supplies.
  • Sam built a sanctuary surrounding a bench at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery by digging a trench, laying edging rocks, designing a flagstone walkway, planting xeriscape plants, and covering the beds in river stones to provide veterans and their families with a comforting place to sit and reflect.
