The Alumni Service Medal is St. Mark’s highest volunteer service award. It is presented to an alumnus who has distinguished himself through sustained and outstanding service to the school.  

Mike Warnecke ’87 is a partner at the litigation practice of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. Prior to this, he worked for 18 years at Haynes Boone, LLP. Mike joined the St. Mark’s Alumni Board in 2001 and served as Alumni Board President from 2009–2011. He Co-Chaired his 30th Class Reunion that set the School’s all-time fundraising record by a single class. He has also served as a member of the Board of Trustees since 2013, including time as Chair of the Development and Finance Committees and as Board Treasurer. After graduating from St. Mark’s, Mike attended Dartmouth College, where he earned an AB in government. He then earned a JD with honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 1994. Mike lives in Dallas with his wife, Diana, and children, Alexandra and Grant ’23.

David Sammons ’76 is the longtime President & CEO of Subaru Distributors Corporation. He has been an active member of the Board of Trustees at St. Mark’s for more than a decade, serving on the Finance Committee since 2013 and as a member of the Education Committee from 2011–2012. David is a founding member of the St. Mark’s New York Alumni Club and has served on the New York Regional Committee since the Club’s inception in 2006. He helped launch the Centennial Challenge as part of the East Coast Launch Committee and spoke as the Alumni Weekend Chapel Homilist in 2015. David has played an integral role in the Class of 1976 breaking numerous participation records for a Reunion class with the most recent record for their 45th Reunion in 2021. After graduating from St. Mark’s, David received a BBA in finance from the University of Texas at Austin in 1980 and a JD from Fordham University School of Law in 1988. David is the husband of Diane, the father of Austin, Elizabeth, and Avery, and currently resides in New York.

David Campbell ’86 currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer at Evergy. His career includes several impressive stints at industry-leading energy companies, including as CEO of InfraREIT, Inc. and Sharyland Utilities and as Executive Vice President and CFO of Vistra Corp. David is a member of the Kansas City Civic Council, the Kansas City Area Development Council, and serves on the Leadership Council of the Yale School of the Environment. David served on the St. Mark’s Alumni Board from 2008–2015 and as the Alumni Board President from 2013–2015. David has been a member of the St. Mark’s Board of Trustees since 2013 and has served as the Assistant Secretary of the Board, Vice-President of the Board, Chair of the Executive Committee, Chair of the Committee on Trustees, and the Co-Chair of the Architecture and Construction Committee. He currently serves on the Education and Audit Committees. After graduating from St. Mark’s, David earned degrees at Yale University, Harvard Law School, and Oxford University. David and his wife Tamara are the parents of Susanna, Carolina, and Colin ’20, and reside in Kansas City.

The Young Alumni Service Citation acknowledges outstanding service to the School by an alumnus who has graduated within the prior 15 years. This award recognizes a young alum who has promoted our School through volunteer support of the Alumni Association and numerous alumni class and school activities.  

Hill Perot ’05 currently serves as Vice President of Hillwood, a leading global real estate development company that focuses primarily on its industrial and warehousing portfolio at AllianceTexas. Prior to joining Hillwood, Hill served as an F-16 pilot in the Oklahoma Air National Guard. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 2012 and earned his pilot’s wings in 2013 while stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base and was honorably discharged in 2019 at the rank of Captain. Hill is active with local charities and civic groups including Texans for Lawsuit Reform coalition, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, the Salvation Army, and the Boy Scouts of America. Hill has served on the St. Mark’s Alumni Board since 2017, and has most recently served as a member of the Nominating Committee, the Executive Committee, and as the Chair of the 2022 Alumni Golf Tournament. Hill played an integral role in helping the Class of 2005 break the reunion giving records for the 5th and 10th Reunions in 2010 and 2015. Additionally, Hill was instrumental in the planning and execution of the 2019 Alumni Leadership Speaker Series at the Perot Family Corporate Campus. After graduating from St. Mark’s, Hill attended Vanderbilt University where he graduated in 2009. Hill resides in Dallas.

Mark Butler ’08 started his career in finance with JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs, helping provide clients with robust investment and lending solutions. Mark is currently a Development Associate at JacksonShaw where he contributes to the sourcing, financing, development, leasing, and disposition of industrial projects. Mark joined the St. Mark’s Alumni Board in 2020, where he currently serves on the Activities and Alumni Weekend Committee. Over the years, Mark played an integral role as a Class Agent, helping lead all Young Alumni classes to reach 60% participation in the St. Mark’s Fund four of the last five years. Mark served the Class of 2008 as both
a Class Agent and Reunion Chair for their 5th and 10th Reunions. He also serves on the NAIOP Developing Leaders Board, and SMU Folsom Institute Associate Board. Currently, Mark serves on the St. Mark’s Alumni Board, where he is active on the Activities and Alumni Weekend Committee. Mark received his BBA in finance in 2012 and his MBA in 2018 from Southern Methodist University. Mark and his wife Lauren currently reside in Dallas.

Luke Kline ’07 is a Director at Cypress Real Estate Advisors (CREA), where he is responsible for mixed-use development and acquisitions. Earlier in his career, he served as Vice President of Acquisitions for Mill Creek Residential Trust LLC, where he was directly involved in the acquisition of more than 3,200 apartment homes totaling over $700 million in enterprise value. He also served as Director of Acquisitions at Avesta, where he was responsible for implementing investment and acquisition strategies for the Texas and mountain states region. Luke is an active member of The Urban Land Institute, and The Real Estate Council of Austin. He has served on the St. Mark’s Alumni Board since 2017 and is the Regional Chair for Austin, Texas. Luke has been a long time Class Agent for the Class of 2007 and has served as a Reunion Chair for his 5th, 10th, and 15th Reunions. After Luke graduated from St. Mark’s, he attended the University of Texas at Austin where he received his bachelor’s degree in finance and an MBA from The McCombs School of Business. Luke, his wife Tory and daughter Collins currently reside in Austin.
