Welcome to 10600

Located at 10600 Preston Road, St. Mark’s School of Texas is situated on roughly 40 acres in the Preston Hollow area of North Dallas. Since moving to its current location more than 70 years ago, the School has developed an extraordinary campus through an extensive, long-range campus master plan that has resulted in completed construction in excess of $50 million in the past decade alone. Although the focus has always been on the students and faculty, St. Mark’s has long been known for having leading-edge facilities.

Centennial Hall

Dedicated in 2008, the LEED Silver-certified Centennial Hall is the primary academic and administrative building on campus, housing the Upper and Middle School administration, faculty offices, and classrooms. In 2015, the School dedicated a room inside of Centennial Hall as Graduate Hall, featuring the engraved names of the more than five thousand graduates of St. Mark’s and its predecessor schools since 1907.

Winn Science Center

Dedicated in 2019, the Winn Science Center provides 50,000 square feet of state-of-the-art education facilities, including a planetarium, a maker space and engineering shop, a greenhouse, a computer engineering and robotics laboratory, a Lower School science lab, and a DNA laboratory.

St. Mark's Chapel

One of the most recognizable landmarks on campus, the St. Mark's Chapel hosts weekly non-sectarian services for boys in Lower, Middle and Upper School. Throughout the year, several special traditions take place in the Chapel, including a Festival of Lessons & Carols, monthly services of Choral Evensong, and the Senior Class's Baccalaureate. The world-renowned St. Mark’s Choir performs at many of these services, accompanied by the Roosevelt Family Chapel Organ.

Fojtasek Family Lower School

The academic program in the Lower School offers courses in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and foreign language, as well as performing arts, fine arts, and physical education. Teachers seek to develop strong study and life skills, including how to maintain concentration, work well both independently and as a member of a group, persevere when confronted with difficulty, learn from mistakes, and enjoy work that is done well.

Norma & Lamar Hunt Family Stadium

The Norma and Lamar Hunt Stadium is the School’s main outdoor athletic field for varsity competition, including football, soccer, lacrosse, and track and field. The lighted, all-weather turf stadium is surrounded by an eight-lane tartan track. Bordering the stadium are the multipurpose Silcock Field and Montgomery Field.

Libraries

Cecil & Ida Green Library and the Lower School Library serve the St. Mark's community with a combined collection that includes more than 55,000 print volumes, 114 current periodical titles, DVDs (theatrical releases and educational programming), audiobooks on CD, and Kindle e-readers available for checkout. Students have access to myriad online resources, including more than 20,000 titles that can be electronically checked out and several dozen leading academic research databases.

Decherd Hall & Lacey Black Box Theater

The Decherd Performance Hall and Eamonn Lacey Black Box Theater serve as a stage for the drama and music programs, as well as a gathering place on campus for class meetings and special guest speakers. Most recently, the Black Box hosted the Upper School Drama Department's performance of Treasure Island.

Harkness Table Classrooms

Centennial Hall features classrooms with large, conference-style Harkness tables to facilitate natural discussion and group learning. As written in the School's Statement of Purpose, St. Mark's upholds the value of defending one’s own ideas and of respecting the views of others.

McDermott-Green Science Building

In 2019, St. Mark's rededicated the McDermott-Green Science Building, opening 25,000 square feet of renovated classrooms, labs, study areas, and offices. A two-story glass connector combines McDermott-Green with the Winn Science Center, providing a popular space for students to study and collaborate.

W. W. Browning, Jr., Great Hall

Each day, more than 1,000 students, faculty, and staff enjoy lunch in the Great Hall. In addition, the Great Hall hosts the School's largest events, including Convocation, Spring Alumni Dinner, father/son breakfasts, and special guest speakers.

Student Mentors

With all 12 grades on one campus, the youngest Marksmen enjoy regular interactions with the "big guys." At the same time, upperclassmen learn to serve as role models for the younger boys. This dynamic is core to the Buddy Program, which matches Seniors with boys in grades 1-3. The buddies meet several times throughout the year and share a special moment when the Lower Schooler rides into the annual All-School Christmas Party on the shoulders of his Senior.

Athletic Facilities

St. Mark's offers 15 varsity sports that are supported by state-of-the-art athletic facilities, including a newly-renovated competition gymnasium, a baseball field, a natatorium, a two-story fitness center, a wrestling center, rehabilitation facilities, custom-designed locker rooms, a multi-sport outdoor stadium with an all-weather playing surface, and an Olympic-level Tartan track.

H. Ben Decherd Fine Arts Center

Students express their creative side in the Decherd Fine Arts Center. This part of campus includes a ceramics studio and kiln, a visual art studio, and practice rooms for band, choir, and orchestra.

Robert K. Hoffman Center

Dedicated in 2008, the LEED Silver-certified Hoffman Center created additional classroom and office space. The Center offers a state-of-the-art home for the School’s nationally renowned journalism department and debate team. The building also houses the Paul Weadon Language Lab, the College Counseling office, and the senior lounge.
