  • Special Teacher Videos

As I mentioned at Mini School, the fine arts, science, Spanish, computer science teachers, and the librarian have prepared short videos to share brief descriptions of their varied disciplines. These videos are now available on the Class Pages.
  • Carpool Update

Thank you for your patience as we have navigated the first few days of carpool and our new SchoolPass app. Most of you now have access to SchoolPass and are able to complete your Wellness Check online. Kathy Mallick is working with SchoolPass support to fix the remaining few glitches. Thank you, Kathy!
When you drive into the LS circle, please pull all the way around and up to the red fire pipe. Your son should be ready to exit the car when it is his turn, and he should get out on the side closest to the LS building. Parents should not get out of their vehicle to help their son exit. If needed, please practice this skill with your son. In order for the boys to be ready to start their school day at 7:55 a.m., we will open the door of the building at 7:35 a.m. While there is still no morning recess at this time, this will help the boys get into their classrooms on time, get organized, and be ready to start their day.
  • Sweatshirts and Outerwear

With the cooler temperatures this week, many boys did not have a sweatshirt or jacket, and thus they were chilly in their classrooms and at recess. It will come as no surprise that we will not have a shared bin of sweatshirts from which to borrow this year. On these cooler days, please send a sweatshirt or jacket for your son, clearly labeled with his name. Thank you!
  • Lunch

SAGE dining has done a fabulous job of getting food delivered to the boys’ classrooms. This has been an amazing feat, and the boys could not have been more gracious as they’ve patiently waited for their various selections. In the coming days, SAGE will share directions for you to order your son’s lunch through the SAGE app. Stay tuned for this information.
  • Masks

The boys may wear any St. Mark’s mask in which they are comfortable. We do ask that they wear the lion mask into the Lower School building so that everyone has on the same mask. They can wear this mask over their preferred mask or just bring the preferred mask. They can remove the lion mask and wear their preferred mask once they get to their homeroom class.
  • SchoolPass Daily Wellness Check for Students

In addition to using SchoolPass for Lower School carpool, all students, faculty, staff, and visitors arriving on the St. Mark’s campus will submit a daily wellness check through the SchoolPass app. As a Lower School parent, you should have received a welcome email from SchoolPass to set up an account. The message was sent to the primary parent (Parent 1) listed on the parent information you provided to the School upon enrollment for the 2020-21 school year. Your SchoolPass account and the daily wellness check can be accessed with a computer or a mobile device.

If you did not receive a welcome email or if you have questions about SchoolPass, please contact Kathy Mallick at mallickk@smtexas.org.
  • Clothing Drive

Covid-19 has impacted our communities and our partner agencies in ways that are hard to fully comprehend today, and it is hard to know the long-term effects these circumstances will have on our communities.

However, the needs of our community are still present and have more than likely increased. Therefore, we have been working hard to find new ways to face today’s challenges. Our goal for Community Service is to find new ways to achieve the same end: serve the needs of our neighbors.

Next week, on Monday, September 14, we will start our annual clothing drive which this year will benefit St. Vincent de Paul and their clients. The drive will last for two weeks, ending on Friday, September 25.

In order to comply with health requirements, the drive will take place according to the instructions below:

    Students must:
    • Bag their donations.
    • Deposit the bag DIRECTLY into the St. Vincent de Paul donation bins by the batting cages close to the Preston Road entrance. Please see location below.
    • Set their bags by the bins, if the donation bins are full. (SVDP will empty the bins periodically)
    • NOT bring their donations into the school.
    • NOT hand their donation to other students.
Adhering to this method of collection will result in zero contact between members of the St. Mark’s community and clothing, allowing for a safer school environment for all of us. SVDP workers will be handling all donations. There will also not be any storage of clothes in the student waiting room in Nearburg.

Please contact Jorge Correa or Isabel Cisneros with any questions or concerns.
  • Student Store

Although the Student Store is not currently open you are able to shop from home on our new online store, smtexasstore.com. You’ll find lots of gear and swag and we offer free delivery within five miles of the school.
  • Extended Day

Extended Day is not open at this time. All boys will be dismissed at 2:55 to carpool through SchoolPass.
  • Lower School Sports

Lower School sports have been canceled for the fall. For questions, please call your Athletic Liaison.

The Directories were mailed to Middle and Upper School families the week of August 24.

Lower School parents received directories in their bags for pick up on August 20, or when new families came in for their conference.
