Lions Head to SPC and State

St. Mark's varsity lacrosse team travelled to Austin, Texas for the THSLL Super-Regionals this past weekend. By defeating both Houston Christian (11-2) and Westlake High School (6-5), the Varsity Lacrosse team has qualified for its 6th trip in the last 7 years to the THSLL Final Four! St. Mark's will play Highland Park High School in the state semi-final match-up at 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, at Clark Field in Plano, Texas.
 
Varsity crew traveled to Austin to compete in the Texas State Rowing Championships this past weekend.  They had a great finish to the regular season.  The crew medaled in the following events:
-          Varsity Double = 1st Place:  Sam Libby, Cameron Baxley
-          Varsity Quad = 2nd Place: Gio Lincon, Sam Libby, Cameron Baxley, Harrison Quarls
-          Lightweight Double = 3rd Place: Gio Lincon, Harrison Quarls
-          Junior Varsity Quad = 2nd Place: Alex Choy, Nick Brodsky, Rajat Mittal, Winston Brewer
-          Junior Varsity Double = 3rd Place Nick Brodsky, Alex Muñoz
The team will be competing in the Central District Youth Rowing Championships in Oklahoma City this Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5.
 
The water polo varsity and JV teams both qualified for post-season play again this spring.  The JV team played in the North Texas Region JV Championships this past weekend in Denton.  They beat Grand Prairie (20-2), Rockwall (14-4), and Southlake-Carroll (15-3) on their way to their 6th straight regional championship!  The varsity team is the #1 seed from the North Region (13 straight North Region titles) at the Texas State High School Water Polo Championships this Friday and Saturday, May 4-5, at Southlake Carroll.  They play their first game on Friday at 11:00 a.m. against Clear Springs HS (Houston) at Southlake Carroll ISD Natatorium.  If they win this game, they will play again at 5:00 p.m., also at Southlake.
 
The varsity baseball  team beat Oakridge last week in its final counter game of the year. With the win, the team secured a bid to the D1 SPC tournament in Houston this weekend.  They will match up in the first round on Friday, May 3, against the host school Kinkaid at 11:00 a.m.  You can follow the team live with pitch by pitch updates at Game Changer and then click the appropriate game on the schedule.
 
The varsity tennis team beat both Oakridge and Cistercian last week to become the #2 seed in the North zone.  They will play the #3 seed from the South Zone, St. Andrew’s, in the first round of the SPC tournament at 11:00 am at the Memorial Park Tennis Center in Houston on Friday.
 
The varsity track and field team is competing in the SPC Championships on Friday and Saturday at Episcopal High in Houston.  They are going for their 10th straight SPC Championship, which is an unprecedented feat.  You can follow the meet online at  http://flashresultstexas.com.
