Planetarium Offers Holiday Show

St. Mark’s will offer a series of planetarium shows to the public beginning Saturday, December 8, at 7:30 p.m.

Dr. Stephen N. Balog, Cecil & Ida Green Master Teacher in Physics and Planetarium & Observatory Director, will present The Star of Bethlehem planetarium show.  Some of the most popular current astronomical theories behind whether the Star of Bethlehem was an actual star or another astronomical event will be discussed. The hour-long show begins at 7:30 p.m. with a brief overview of the constellations and planets up at the time. If interest is great, a second show will begin at 9:00 p.m.

Since its opening in 1961, the planetarium, a part of the McDermott Green Science Quadrangle, has helped elevate St. Mark's to national recognition. For more than 50 years it has served as an invaluable resource to not only the School, but the great Dallas community.
