Habitat for Humanity House
1/16/2008
On January 12, St. Mark’s and Hockaday students broke ground on a Habitat for Humanity house-build project, which will take eight weeks to complete. The WinningHabits Charitable Foundation, created in 2007 by current St. Mark’s and Hockaday parents Deborah and David Michel, has partnered with both schools to complete three local Habitat homes over the next three years. “One of the goals of The WinningHabits Foundation is to inspire others to give their time and money to worthy charities,” stated David Michel. “This partnership between St. Mark’s and Hockaday galvanizes Dallas business leaders of today and tomorrow while bringing the dream of homeownership to a local family.”

The remaining workdays are listed below, and the site is open from 8:00am to 4:00pm. While the Foundation will fund all of the construction costs, Upper School students will be the actual builders, working side-by-side with their parents as well as faculty and staff from both St. Mark’s and Hockaday. If you would like further information, please contact Jeanie Laube, Director of Community Service.
